Andy Irons
The surfing world and his home island of Kaua’i are reeling from the news that three-times world champion Andy Irons died this morning, reportedly from dengue fever. According to the Hawaii News Now report, the 32-year-old surfer died in Dallas en route to the Garden Island, after pulling out of a competition in Puerto Rico.
A longer story on his hometown paper’s Web Site, GardenIsland.com, reports that Irons had been diagnosed with dengue fever in Puerto Rico, and had first sought medical treatment in Miami before deciding to see his doctor on Kaua’i. He was on a layover when it was determined he was too sick to continue flying home, and after checking himself into a hotel, never woke up, according to GardenIsland.com.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
Twilight stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson recently sat down with Sky Movies Magazine to discuss working together on one of biggest film franchises of all time. What’s interesting is that none of the three young actors had any idea that the first Twilight film turn out to be such a huge success, which made them global teen idols almost overnight. “I genuinely thought this was a dark little indie vampire love story,” said Pattison. “And then it just ended up being this massive thing. I didn’t see it coming at all.”

Brett Favre Injury
Brett Favre’s injury is not as serious as it initially appeared when he was hit hard in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Patriots. Although Favre had to be helped off the field, the Vikings announced that he only sustained a laceration to his chin and received eight stitches after being carted off.
In the Vikings’ postgame press conference, Favre indicated that he plans to play in Week 9, saying “I don’t want to make a big deal out of it. I remember everything, unfortunately. But I’ll be fine.”
Tarvaris Jackson came in to replace Favre after Patriots defensive tackle Myron Pryor delivered a nasty shot to Favre’s chin midway through the fourth quarter. If Favre is able to return next week, he’ll extend his NFL-record streak to 293 consecutive regular-season games started in spite of multiple injuries this season.
